Yikes. As a Christian (God-believing, not church-attending), I find this perversion of Christian worship service disturbing. I had no idea it had come to this.

I have a slightly different take on what this means. Trump doesn't have enough supporters to get back into a position of power. There are too many Republicans, like myself, who find this shameless self-promotion nauseating, not to mention his violations of the Espinoage Act. (As a retired librarian, I find it delicious that it might be a bunch of archivists who bring Trump down.) These rallies and the adolation feed his ego, and stoke his delusions. You have to ask: has the DOJ and media gone after Trump since his came down the elevator? I think yes. However, like Bill Barr, I also think there were some good things going on with policy decisions during his time in office. At least, my life was a lot better then compared to now. Even Larry Summers, Obama's Treasury Secretary, thinks the Keystone Pipeline would be a more efficient and safer way to transport oil, but no, Biden had to get rid of it because it was Trump's notion. Same with remain in Mexico and the border catastrope. It's inhumane what is going on down there.

Regarding the Brian McClaren book, isn't that what we're living RIGHT NOW? Democrat leaders nationally and in my state, New York, have created all sorts of "emergency" authority and are loathe to surrender it. That author really nailed it. Thanks for sharing that. I get where you're going in the comparison to Trump, but I see a more immediate parallel. For example, now that the pandemic is "over" (tell that to my daughter who just got COVID), what about the NYC teachers, firemen, and policemen who lost their jobs because they couldn't/wouldn't get the vacine? Shouldn't they get their jobs back--especially with a severe teacher shortage? No--a political point has to be made.

Ultimately, everything that happens is about power--getting it, keeping it, making it more entrenched.
