LOL!! And the next day, these "compassionate" people shipped the whole lot of them to a Joint Services base in Cape Cod: https://freebeacon.com/latest-news/illegal-immigrants-get-the-boot-after-one-day-on-marthas-vineyard/

When Lori Lightfoot sent one of her shipped-in buses of illegal immigrants to a Republican suburb, was that a stunt as well? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11200859/Chicago-Mayor-Lori-Lightfoot-sparks-fury-moving-64-migrants-bus-Texas-GOP-suburb.html

Here's a slightly different perspective on all these "stunts"--they work. Nothing that Greg Abbott had done up until he started bussing illegal migrants OUT of Texas--no amount of complaining--was getting his state any relief from the never-ending stream of humanity invading the southern border. For example: Del Rio Texas has a population of 34,489. In the first 8 months of fiscal year 2022 (October-May), Border Patrol announced 280, 622 migrant encounters in Del Rio. That's almost 8 times the city's population. Martha's Vineyard year-round population? 17,000. Summer time? 200,000. I think the island can handle 50 additional people for more than 1 day, not to mention that it's in a sanctuary state.

And Texas still doesn't have any federal help! Joe Biden hasn't even been to the southern border to see for himself what the hell is going on. He can't--then he'd bear some responsibility. Say what you will about Trump--at least he visited the border multiple times.

No, this disarray suits the Democrats very well. After all, they control the WH and both chambers of Congress. If there's a time to make something happen and take credit for it, it would be now. Crickets. The notion that people escaping poor living situations and wanting to come to the United States can only go so far. These people are entering illegally. Your statement that it would be "near-impossible to get to their asylum hearings in far-flung parts of the country" is nonsensical. Where is your proof that migrants are not able to travel about the country? A more pressing problem is the amount of time it takes to get to an asylum hearing (up to 6 years), and the dismal rate of asylum-granting (15%). Read this article to get a better idea of the complexities of this issue, not to mention the massaaging of the data: https://www.factcheck.org/2021/04/factchecking-claims-about-asylum-grants-and-immigration-court-attendance/

Immigration is great--we all came from someplace else in the world. I have a problem with using poorly written laws to encourage mass migration, with lots of freebies at the end of your journey; services and items that scores of our own citizens in poverty do not have access to. Additionally, the conditions in which these migrants are traveling--over 800 have drowned this year, 100+ have died in inhuman conditions in the backs of trucks or stuffed into an SUV--these are encouraged by the cartels. The fentanyl crossing the border and killing Americans, the human and sex trafficking--these are a humanitarian outrage. Where's the liberal compassion about those issues? Ron DeSantis , Greg Abbott, and Gov. Ducey may be playing political stunts, but they're only trying to get relief for their people.
