Here's a slightly different perspective on all these "stunts"--they work. Nothing that Greg Abbott had done up until he started bussing illegal migrants OUT of Texas--no amount of complaining--was getting his state any relief from the never-ending stream of humanity invading the southern border. For example: Del Rio Texas has a population of 34,489. In the first 8 months of fiscal year 2022 (October-May), Border Patrol announced 280, 622 migrant encounters in Del Rio. That's almost 8 times the city's population. Martha's Vineyard year-round population? 17,000. Summer time? 200,000. I think the island can handle 50 additional people for more than 1 day, not to mention that it's in a sanctuary state.

Immigration is great--we all came from someplace else in the world. I have a problem with using poorly written laws to encourage mass migration, with lots of freebies at the end of your journey; services and items that scores of our own citizens in poverty do not have access to. Additionally, the conditions in which these migrants are traveling--over 800 have drowned this year, 100+ have died in inhuman conditions in the backs of trucks or stuffed into an SUV--these are encouraged by the cartels. The fentanyl crossing the border and killing Americans, the human and sex trafficking--these are a humanitarian outrage. Where's the liberal compassion about those issues? Ron DeSantis , Greg Abbott, and Gov. Ducey may be playing political stunts, but they're only trying to get relief for their people.
